Inamorata PROLOGUE

 

 

PROLOGUE:


Scene: A deserted dark alley at a bad neighborhood in the middle of the night.
A woman, Cathy Villanueva is walking alone. She is looking warily around her.

Cathy: (thinking) Why, oh why did I come here by myself. Maybe I should turn around and leave? No! No, this is a great tip. I can't give up. I've been in more dangerous situations than this. I'll just go a little bit further, if he's not there, then I'll leave...

She hears footsteps behind her. Cathy turns around.

Cathy: Hello? Mohawk ? Is that you?

She sees no one and continues walking. She walks a few more steps and hears the footsteps again. She looks back and sees no one again. She's getting nervous.

Suddenly, several huge, gross looking rats run in front of her across the alley, scaring her half to death.

Cathy: (thinking) Okay, That's my cue to leave. I'm outta here.

She turns around and starts to walk towards the direction of her parked car.

Suddenly, someone appears from the shadows and rushes over behind her. The stranger stabs her multiple times and runs away. Cathy was so surprised, she wasn't even able to scream or put up a fight. She falls on the ground in a bloody heap and loses consciousness.

Cathy wakes up. She feels excruciating pain on her back and sides. She feels movement and realizes she is being carried. She opens her eyes and looks right at a man's face. Her vision is hazy but she can see that he looks very serious.

Cathy: (moaning weakly) I've.. been... stabbed. Am ... I … dead?

Man: (soothing voice) Hang in there. I'm taking you to the hospital.

Cathy: (weakly) Who... are... you?

The man doesn't answer as he continues to walk quickly while carrying her. By now, they are both soaked in blood. Cathy tries to move and she manages to swing her arm and she knocks the man's eyeglasses off his face.

Man: Relax. Save your strength.

Cathy loses consciousness again but the last thought in her head was how sad the man's eyes had looked.

Inamorata - EPISODE 1 : New Years Eve

 

EPISODE 1 : New Years Eve

Few months after …

Scene: Cathy's office at a TV production company.

Cathy is all by herself in the office. The TV is on and playing a show that is counting down the New Years.

From the TV: 10.. 9... 8.. 7... 6.. 5.. 4.. 3...2.. 1.. Happy New Year everybody!! Welcome to 2011!! Wooooh!! (music and sounds of people having a good time) Happy New Year!!!

Cathy looks up from the work she is doing.

Cathy: (thinking) Wow! I didn't even realize it's midnight.

She take a bottle of champagne that was on her desk and pours a little bit in a glass and takes a sip.

Her cell phone rings. She looks at who's calling and answers it. It's her assistant Susie.

Cathy: Hi Susie. Happy New Year!

Cathy can hear sounds of a party on the other line.

Susie: Happy New Year! Are you still in the office?

Cathy: Yes.

Susie: I knew it! (telling someone else ) I told you guys, she’s still at work!

Cathy: I didn't realize the time, but I'm almost done.

Susie: Hurry up and come here! It's not too late. This party is epic!

Cathy: I just have a few more things to do.

Susie: The work will be there tomorrow, it's not going anywhere but New Years only comes once a year!

Cathy: All right! I'll hurry up.

Susie: There are so many yummy guys here, you are so missing out. Oh hang on..

Susie: (talking to someone at the party) Yes, yes I'm calling Cathy now (pause) What else, of course she's still at the office. (pause) Yes, the Cathy Villanueva from TV. I work with her you know.(pause) Yeah, she's single and ready to mingle! Ha ha ha!

Susie: (back to Cathy) Get your a$s in here quick! We need to let our freak flag fly!

Cathy: Okay, okay! Leave some for me. Ha ha

Cathy hangs up smiling. She stands up and looks at her pile of work and for a second considers leaving without finishing. But she sits back down and types on the computer keyboard. Cathy takes a sip of champagne from her glass and continues working.

EPISODE 2 : The Familiar Voice

Scene: At another dark, deserted alley in the middle of a rainy night.

Cathy is walking alone, looking warily around her. She is holding an umbrella but it wasn't much protection against the hard rain and strong wind .

Cathy: (thinking) Why, oh why did I put myself in this situation again? I hope my guardian angel is not too busy today.

She hears what she thinks are footsteps behind her.

Cathy turns around and doesn't see anyone. She runs to the side against the wall where there's a bit of a cover. She is drenched from the rain despite her umbrella.

Cathy: (thinking) This is a huge mistake. If I get hurt again, I have no one to blame but myself. There must be ways to get information that don't involve getting stabbed.

By now she's hearing things and seeing something in every shadow. In her paranoia, she's convinced herself there's a gang of killers after her.

Cathy: (thinking) This rain isn't stopping any time soon. I have to make a run for it, I'm like a sitting duck here.

Cathy runs towards the direction where she parked her car. It was so rainy she couldn't see very well.

Suddenly, a man appears from the shadows and she runs right into him. Bump!

Cathy almost falls but the man catches and steadies her. She was so convinced in her mind that she was going to get killed that she faints. But before she passes out, she recognizes the sad eyes under a pair of eyeglasses that she's seen before.

EPISODE 4: The Date

Scene: Monticelli Industries Headquarters. In a tall building in the middle of the financial district.

Cathy is being shown into a very large office. It’s what you would expect an office of a CEO to look like, but even more impressive. It looks like a museum. There are Asian antiques on display, including several swords and several Japanese samurai armor. Cathy is looking at one of these closely when she hears a deep voice from behind her.

Paolo: Fully restored antique samurai armor from the Japanese Edo period. It was once owned by a fierce warrior who according to legend slaughtered thousands of people.

Cathy turns around and Paolo holds out his hands for Cathy to shake.

Paolo: Good Afternoon Miss Villanueva, welcome to my office.

Cathy takes his hands and shakes it. Paolo is handsome, well dressed, an air of self-confidence. Maybe too much.

Cathy: Good Afternoon Mr Monticelli.

Paolo: Please have a seat.

He points to an expensive looking, contemporary couch of black leather, glass and chrome. They sit down.

Cathy: Thank you so much for agreeing to this interview. I know that you usually only grant interviews to newspapers and business magazines. Would you mind if I record this interview?

Paolo: Sure. No problem. I’ve nothing to hide.

Cathy: Thank you.

Cathy asks him and he answers some standard question about his business and personal life. After several questions and answers...

Paolo: Miss Villanueva, may I call you Cathy?

Cathy nods. Paolo looks her straight in the eye as he gives her a charming smile.

Paolo: Cathy, I’m a direct person. I like to get to the point. You’ve been asking me nothing but soft ball questions. I believe you’re a much better journalist than that. Why don’t you ask me what you really want to know?

EPISODE 5 : The Piano

Scene: Dark hallway

Cathy is in her nightgown. She sees lights coming from a room and walks towards it.

Suddenly, she feels the breath get knocked out of her as a man from behind grabs her and turns her around and pushes her against the wall. He holds her in a crushing embrace. There's no escape.

She looks up and recognizes the familiar sad eyes. The man puts his hands on the back of her head firmly and pulls it towards him for a rough kiss. She feels the man's barely controlled anger vibrating through his body.

Cathy sits up, abruptly waking from her dream. She's breathing hard and sweating. She puts her hand on her chest and looks around her dark bedroom, as if expecting the man to be there. She tries to go back to sleep but her mind keeps drifting to the dream, reliving that kiss. She's not sure yet how she feels about it. She scared and excited at the same time.

Cathy: (thinking) What is happening to me? I just don't get it! Why do I keep dreaming of him?

EPISODE 6 : The Letter

Scene: Cathy's office early the next day after the party. Her phone is ringing. It's Paolo.

Cathy: Hello?

Paolo: Hi Cathy.

Cathy: Hi.

Paolo: You left so quickly the other night, we didn't get a chance to talk. Now you know more about my family than I would have liked. I apologize for my brother Vincent. I hope he didn't scare you.

Cathy: No, I'm really okay.

Paolo: Good, good. I was really taken aback that he even knows you.

Cathy: He saved my life, you know. He was the one who took me to the hospital when I was attacked.

Paolo: I see. I'm glad that he did that. But... be careful of him, Cathy.

Cathy: Why do you say that?

Paolo: Well, I hate to say this about my own brother but he's ... not stable. My aunts probably filled you in about Vincent's stint at the mental hospital.

Cathy: Yes they did.

Paolo: That and I hesitate to bring this up but he has a tendency to get ... obsessed about certain things or even people.

Inamorata - EPISODE 7 : The Prophecy

 

EPISODE 7 : The Prophecy

Scene: At a dark hallway

Cathy is in her nightgown, walking slowly in the darkness, feeling her way. She sees a faint light coming from one of the rooms and walks towards it. Inside the room, she sees some papers strewn about all over. She wants to see those papers, maybe they are leads, she thought.

She feels someone behind her. She turns around and sees Vincent. Like in her previous dream, the room was dim and he was in front of the light source, just a few candles. She couldn't see him well but she knows it's Vincent. He was also in his nightclothes, a pair of pajamas, with the top unbuttoned.

Vincent approaches her slowly, it seemed to Cathy, it was taking him a long time to get to her. He lifts up his hand to caress her face, she kisses the hand that was close to her lips. She lifts up her hand to caress his face, she touches his scars, feeling the uneven texture. He kisses her hand just like she did. She moves her hands down his neck where there are more scars. They embrace for a few seconds, then they kiss. Slowly at first, gently, his hand on the back of her head and her hands on his back. Then it becomes more passionate.

Later, they are laying in bed. Cathy closed her eyes. She felt the little hairs on his legs against her own legs. She felt his lips and hands on her neck, breast, stomach. She savored the feel of his weight on top of her. She enjoyed the feel of his body that she is touching with her hands ..

Alarm Clock: Beeeeeeeeep! Beeeeeeeeep!

Cathy is jolted awake, gasping and panting. She looks at Vincent's letter which is at the side table next to her bed.

Inamorata - EPISODE 8 : The Kiss

 

EPISODE 8 : The Kiss

Scene: Outside LifeTekk Pharmaceuticals. Nightime.

Cathy and Susie are in a car about a block from the facility.

Susie: (nervous) Cathy, I'm getting scared. Are you sure about this?

Cathy: Nothing to be scared of!

Susie: Easy for you to say..

Cathy: Susie, come on. It will be fine.

Susie: Do we really have to do this?

Cathy: Yes we do! Our investigation is going nowhere. There's something going on in there, I feel it.

Susie: Okay! Okay! Tell me again what do we do.

Cathy: We sneak in..

Susie: How do we do that!

Cathy: I scoped this out earlier. We can go in through that side door there. I bribed someone to leave the door unlocked for us. She's also going to disable some of the security cameras. She told me which ones. We sneak past the guards, pick a lock, whatever. It's simple! I told you I've done this lots of times

Susie: Oh yes, please don't remind me that we might meet someone who's feeling a bit 'stabby'.

Cathy: Susie..

Susie: Ohh, my stomach...I think I'm going to throw up.

Cathy: Susie, if you are that scared, I'll just go by myself

Susie: (relief in her face and voice) Yes! That's the best idea I've heard all day. I'll stay right here and be your lookout!

Cathy: (smiling) Okay. Text me if you see anything.

Inamorata - EPISODE 9 : The Secret

 

EPISODE 9 : The Secret

Scene: Cathy's workplace conference room. Cathy and her team are gathered for a meeting.

Cathy: Let's go through everything that we have with a fine tooth comb, and then go through it again, especially the pictures I got from LifeTekk the other night. I feel we are really close.

Coworkers: Yes!

Cathy: We all have our assignments. Everyone understands what they are supposed to do?

Coworkers: Yes!

Cathy: That's all. Thanks everyone. Please come to me right away if you feel you have something, anything!

The staff leaves the conference room except for Susie.

Cathy: Susie, I have to leave for a bit. Please cover for me while I'm gone.

Susie: Sure, no problem. Where are you going?

Cathy: (hesitating a bit) Just some errands.

Susie: Okay, be careful. Watch out for your stalker. Check in with me later so I know you are okay.

Cathy: I'll be fine! If Mrs. Gorospe looks for me, tell her I'm working on the story she wants.

Susie: Are you?

Cathy: Not ... exactly. I still can't bring myself to air Vincent's story but if I tell Mrs. Gorospe that, she'll give the story to someone else.

Susie: How long do you think you can keep that up?

Cathy: My hope is that if we can break a better story, she will drop it.

One of the staffers knock on the door.

Coworker: Excuse me, Cathy. I may have something here...

EPISODE 10: The Rose

Scene: Vincent's house living room.

Vincent: You lying b1tch! I thought you were different! How can you do this to me! I worshiped you! Paolo's right, you just used me!

Cathy: P- Paolo?

Vincent: Yes, remember him, my b@stard of a brother that you f*cked!

Cathy: What? No, no, I didn't. Nothing happened between us! If he told you that, he's lying!

Vincent: You're the liar! You don't deserve the devotion I've given you!

Vincent pushes her down on the couch and starts kissing her roughly.

Vincent: Is this what you want? Huh? This? I heard you are giving it away

Cathy: No, No Vincent, please no!!

Cathy tries to fight him off but he's stronger than her. He continues to kiss and touch her all over while holding her down.

Cathy: (panicking) Stop! Stop! Not like this.. not like this!

He rips her blouse open. Cathy starts crying loudly.

Cathy: (crying) Vincent, listen to me! Please, please let me go...

Vincent doesn't listen and continues to pull down her clothes.

Cathy: (sobbing loudly) Please don't do this! You are not this person!

Vincent gets a glimpse at Cathy's terrified face. He sees the tears streaming down her cheeks and the fear in her eyes. Vincent stops and gets off her.

Vincent: Cathy.. Oh my God, oh my God, what am I doing.. Cathy...

Cathy gets up and runs out of the house as fast as she can. Vincent sits on the floor in a heavy thud. The reality of what he almost did hits him like a ton of bricks. He puts his head on both hands and sobs.

Vincent stands up and sees himself in a large mirror.

Vincent: What the you crying about? Your nothing but a monster! You don't deserve to live!

He throws a heavy candlestick at the mirror and it shatters. The vision of Cathy's eyes full of fear will haunt his thoughts for a long time.

Inamorata

Inamorata was initially created with Mark Anthony and Heart Evangelista but we changed the male lead to Sid Lucero since he suits more the role of the lead character as a pianist with a dark past. Mark Anthony fits better as the oldest brother Paolo Montecillo.
